Summary[]
Ken Miyamae asks Umetarou Nozaki to come up with a horror story for this month’s manga. Mikorin and Sakura help him brainstorm some ideas, but they are not good enough. Therefore, Mikoshiba and Nozaki head to the video store to rent a horror movie. However, the descriptions are so bluntly and vividly terrifying that Mikoshiba gives up then and there.
Mikoshiba then excitedly proclaims they should understand the horror by playing a video game. Although it is a little old and has no supporting graphics, they start playing it. Unfortunately, at that time, they didn’t realize that they had made a huge mistake.
Because of the lack of graphics and information, they proceed clumsily through the game. Nozaki attempts to assist them in the decision-making points by creating drawings of what he believes the characters look like. To add more suspense, Mikoshiba suggests turning off the lights before they start Round 2. Sakura agrees, but in the darkness, as they both reach for snacks, Nozaki mistakes Sakura’s finger for snacks. As she screams after being bitten by Nozaki, Mikoshiba cries out worriedly if something really did appear—what happened to her finger.
Once the lights are back on, Nozaki apologizes to Sakura. Exceedingly embarrassed, Sakura suggests turning the lights back off. Mikoshiba suddenly turns into his other self, telling her he likes to see her flushed face. She retorts that he is just afraid of the dark, embarrassing the latter.
Finally, Sakura and Mikoshiba ask Nozaki if the game helped at all. Nozaki replies that rather than the game, he was inspired by what happened when the lights were off. After seeing his interpretation (no characters are drawn; just their dialogue is pictured), Sakura concludes that Ken-san will dislike him even more.
