In order to come up with a rival character for Suzuki, Umetarou Nozaki and Mikoto Mikoshiba come to school as “delinquents.” They both instruct Chiyo Sakura not to talk to them since they want to keep up this image for the rest of the day. However, just as they walk off, sullen and stoic, they suddenly rush back. Sakura realizes that they just wanted feedback about their performance. She asks them why they choose to be bad boys, and Nozaki answers that they are more appealing for shojo manga fans. Therefore, they “rebelled” in multiple ways starting from this morning. Sakura concludes, however, that their reactions are not making any sense.
Nozaki then asks what her type of bad boy does. She replies that he may not show up at class and go somewhere else, or he could be chronically late. When both boys try to “top” that, she states they are just playing truant.
Nozaki then hands Sakura a sign with “doki” written on it. He instructs her to raise it up whenever they do something to make her heart race as a shojo manga heroine. Sakura immediately lifts it up when she sees Nozaki “sprinting down a tree to rescue the heroine.” However, she doesn’t give the same reaction to Mikorin since he needed Nozaki’s help to even get up into the tree. Once he is in the treetops, he effortlessly delivers some “bad boy” lines. Afterwards, an increasingly embarrassed Mikorin grabs the tree trunk, begging them to respond. However, they ask if he is embarrassed or scared. Piqued, Mikorin says both.
Finally, Sakura tells them that bad boys are cool because they are usually lone wolves. Nozaki and Mikorin then decide to split up—Nozaki declares that he will be the delinquent who sleeps in class. Sakura concludes that he is just tired. Mikorin announces that he is just going to stay in the tree and skip class. Concerned, Sakura asks if he will be all right. Mikorin replies that he has no choice since he didn’t bring his homework—he is going to get in so much trouble. Sakura answers that he should just stop now—he is going to regret this behavior. Mikorin proclaims that they shouldn’t underestimate him and orders them to go.
After they are gone, Mikoshiba thinks to himself that he really fooled them—there is now way he would have skipped class just because he left his homework. He depressingly thinks that he didn’t go with them because he can’t get down. However, a shojo manga-like encounter with an unknown person helps Mikoshiba topple out of the tree. Seo later tells her teacher she was late because “a stud fell from the sky”, but her teacher doesn’t believe her.
