Umetarou Nozaki excitedly discusses with Chiyo Sakura his upcoming meeting with Ken-san. That evening Masayuki Hori asks where Nozaki is. Sakura informs him that he left early to buy new clothes for his meeting with his editor.
Nozaki shows Sakura his saved text messages from Ken-san. Although Sakura is a little overwhelmed by Nozaki’s enthusiastic behavior towards him, she is even more shocked by Nozaki’s saved messages from Mitsuya Maeno. Nozaki tells her he is keeping them as evidence how bad an editor Maeno really is—he can’t afford to take any chances. He further discusses Maeno’s completely clueless behavior and how much he had to struggle through “trial and error” to survive when Maeno was his editor.
On the day of the meeting, Ken-san tries to get Nozaki to properly discuss the manga storyboards. However, because of Nozaki’s own “agenda” to “test” Ken-san, they don’t make any real progress. Ken-san ends the meeting by asking Nozaki to start focusing on the manga again.
The next day on the way to school, Sakura wonders how the meeting went. She assumes it went well since he worked so hard to think of good topics of discussion. When she meets Nozaki, she asks how the meeting went— he tells her he was “completely annihilated.” Shocked, she asks why he looks so happy even though that happened.
Simultaneously at the editor’s office, Maeno excitedly holds Nozaki’s “alien idea paper” and asks Ken Miyamae what this “interesting” idea is about.
