Summary
Umetarou Nozaki has the afternoon off; since he doesn’t have any particular hobbies, Chiyo Sakura goes with him to have some fun. However, Nozaki-kun’s mind is always preoccupied with his manga so he relates every real life situation to it. To begin with, they go to see a movie with beautiful cinematography and background shots, yet it only inspires Nozaki to use them as references for his manga. At the café, he takes pictures of what they’re eating for reference for the manga. Afterwards at the clothing store, he decides to buy some outfits... so he can use them for Mamiko, the main female lead of his manga. He even asks Sakura to try on a sailor outfit so he can see how it looks, but she adamantly refuses.
When they go to the hobbies/toy store, they meet Mikoto Mikoshiba. Although he’s embarrassed to see them, Sakura and Mikorin convince Nozaki to pick out a figurine for himself. However, Nozaki is only interested in using it as a model for Suzuki. Their final stop is at the art store. Sakura buys some supplies for the art club; she tries to convince Nozaki-kun to try oil or watercolor painting. Yet, all he can think of is how in the future his collection of illustrations will be sold and he’ll be famous not only as a manga artist but also as a real artist. Sakura replies that that’s not a hobby at all, as using his 'hobby' to further his franchise defeats its initial purpose of getting his mind away from his work.
After their trip, he asks Sakura to come over if she is free; he had made too much food and had no one to finish it. Sakura realizes that she shouldn’t have expected more from him. Finally, he offers her a “gift.” She happily wonders what it could be; however, when she opens it, she discovers it is the same sailor suit she initially refused to wear. Nozaki cheerfully holds his camera and asks her to wear it now if she likes, but she once again flatly refuses.
